Water Quality Monitoring

CMS provides comprehensive water quality monitoring services, from discrete sampling to long-term, real-time data collection across coastal and offshore environments. Using calibrated, industry-standard instrumentation, CMS accurately measures key parameters including temperature, salinity, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, ORP, chlorophyll, and turbidity. CMS specializes in the deployment and maintenance of telemetry-enabled monitoring systems, including buoy-based platforms, as well as transect and water column profiling surveys. All sampling is conducted in accordance with EPA protocols for collection, handling, and laboratory analysis, ensuring high-quality, defensible data.

Topographic/ Elevation/ Hydrologic Surveys

CMS provides high-accuracy topographic, elevation, and hydrologic surveying services to support coastal monitoring, restoration, and land change analysis. Using advanced survey equipment and precise positioning systems, CMS delivers reliable elevation data across a range of environments, from developed shorelines to remote coastal and marsh systems. Services include beach elevation profiles, shoreline change surveys, marsh elevation monitoring, and land change assessments. Data deliverables include post-processed datasets (e.g., CSVs, shapefiles) as well as GIS-based mapping products tailored to project needs.

Biological Sampling

CMS provides comprehensive biological sampling services to support fisheries, habitat, and ecological studies across coastal and aquatic environments. The CMS team is experienced in a wide range of sampling methods, including otter trawls, oyster dredges, seine nets, hook and line, trap and cage methods, and bycatch assessments. Field efforts are conducted with a focus on accurate, consistent data collection and proper handling of biological samples, ensuring reliable results to support research, monitoring, and management objectives.

Sediment & Benthic Grab Samples

CMS provides sediment and benthic sampling services to support environmental assessments, habitat characterization, and geotechnical and water quality studies. The CMS team is experienced in the use of a variety of bottom sampling equipment, including Ekman dredges, Van Veen grab samplers, box corers, multi-cores, and Ponar grab samplers, allowing for reliable sample collection across a range of substrate conditions. All sampling is conducted in accordance with EPA protocols for collection, processing, and transport, ensuring high-quality, defensible data for laboratory analysis and project reporting.

Long-Term Environmental Monitoring Stations

CMS provides installation, maintenance, and servicing of long-term environmental monitoring stations to support continuous data collection across coastal and aquatic environments. Systems are designed and deployed to ensure reliable performance under dynamic field conditions, with routine maintenance, calibration, and data retrieval performed to maintain data quality and continuity. The CMS team has experience working with a wide range of instrumentation, including LiCOR, YSI, In-Situ, Campbell Scientific, and HOBO systems. Services include full station lifecycle support, from initial deployment and configuration to ongoing servicing, troubleshooting, and data management.
